As Arborist Public Tree Management for Wollongong City Council, William identifies and exploits opportunities for better tree assets which shape a more liveable city. William has introduced internationally recognised tree management software to local government and is leading Urban Forestry projects which are driving canopy growth across the city.
Providing direction on trees in conflict with city infrastructure has informed William’s evidence-based approach to managing trees in Urban environments. His approach is underpinned by a decade of experience in arboriculture and plant biosecurity roles across the public and private sector.
William is disrupting entrenched views about tree species preferences and is focused on selecting tree species which are fit for purpose in our warming climate. As a change-driver in local government greening programs, William explores innovative ways to use and manage green infrastructure in an increasingly complex city environment.
